2012 Accountancy Showcase

THE NUIM ACCOUNTANCY SHOWCASE

Wednesday October 3rd 2012 from 4.30pm

The annual NUIM Accountancy Showcase took place on Wednesday October 3rd 2012 in NUI Maynooth in the  Iontas Building, NUIM. All the leading professional firms including PWC, E&Y,KPMG and Deloitte attended as well as the Irish Accounting & Taxation Institutes and Glanbia, IFS and Intel.

This was a tremendous opportunity for the students to learn more about a career in Accountancy whilst also showcasing NUIM students to the Accounting profession.There are presently 240 students on the BA Accounting & Finance and the BA Business & Accounting degree programmes at NUIM with 50 students completing either an MA in Accounting or a Higher Diploma in Accounting at postgraduate level.
 
As usual, the accounting academic prizes were presented by representatives of the awarding firms in a ceremony at the event :
The 1st year KPMG accounting prize was presented to Daniel Ryan.
In 2nd year there were three prizes awarded: E&Y prize for 1st place accounting student on the BA A&F  was presented to Maria Byrd, the RBK prize for 2nd place accounting student on the BA A&F was presented to Marina Volkova and the 2nd year CIMA prize for the top management accounting student was presented to Cian Dolan. The 3rd year PWC prize was presented to Paul Cervi.
 
In addition a number of prizes were presented at postgraduate level:
Jonathan McDermott and Philip O'Reilly were joint  prize winners of the KPMG prize for 1st place on the  MA in Accounting. Robert Blake was presented with the IFS prize for best thesis on the MA in Accounting while Darren Roche was presented with the Deloitte prize for the top student on the Higher Diploma in Professional Accounting .
The Accountancy Showcase was a great success with many students in attendance.
